One of my favorite past times is curling up on my loveseat with a bottle of wine and a good book. As outgoing and social as I am, for me there is sometimes no better time spent than with self. Like many of you I was introduced to Chastity Garner via her blog and when I read she was publishing her first book I was excited…. until I saw the title and I thought “what is this exactly”. Is it her blog in a book? If so, I can read that for free. After some research and my interview with her for SKORCH Magazine I found out we were all wrong.

The Curvy Girls Guide to Style Vol 1 is titled perfectly. It is a beginners or even those with a little experience guide to looking your best. There are two things that makes Chastity’s book worth buying (1) its written by one of us for us. I don’t know about you but sometimes I just get so sick and tired of people with no clue on how it feels to be plus size telling how I should wear my clothes. The options are practical well the power panty is a bit much but honey it works. (2) its an easy read. I didn’t struggle thru the pages. Her personality comes thru and you feel like her in a conversation.

In celebration of the release of her book The Curvy Spot is bringing a copy of The Curvy Girls Guide to Style into your home. Just leave me a comment about your style and how Chasisty can give you a few pointers… A winner will be chosen on July 1st!

Even though Kimberley Locke is busy with the launch of her new “Strobe Light” single – the first fruit of her collaboration with Randy Jackson – she’s also pushing forward with meetings this week about the reality show project closest to her heart, “Making the Curve.” The show revolves around those belters, crooners and screamers who make amazing music, but have a way of turning up as backup singers because of the way they look.

“I know what it feels like to have more talent than the front girl, if you know what I mean,” says the singer who rose to fame on “American Idol” and has since gone on landing several Top 20 hits and No. 1 singles across Billboard charts – as well as proving an attention-getter among the celebs trying to lose weight on “Celebrity Fit Club.”

“We’re giving those girls the opportunity to have a shot. This is a show for plus-size women. It’s not open to everybody.” There will be auditions in different cities, and “these girls are going to write together, they’re going to live in a house together and collaborate with those powerhouse voices. We’re going to give them a makeover,” says Locke – who’ll serve as host as well as producer.

Weight loss “is not a part of it. Healthy lifestyle is part of it. If you want to lose weight after you’ve had some success, knock yourself out. Most of us do that anyway,” she comments. “It’s about the music, and it’s about their stories – moving beyond their weight issues and being successful.”

This dress was first seen in this past fall collection and the red color as I was told was sold out in 2 weeks! The dress is made of jersey material blend and has a banded bottom allows you to adjust the length so it can be worn as a short dress or tunic top with leggings or jeans.

Some may say, I’m late as all outdoors but trust me — I’ve never been the one to rush into glory. To be honest, my schedule has been so hectic, the only reason I’ve had the time to sit and write this post tonight is because I’m online shopping for my winter weekend. *sowwy*

All I can say is OhEmGee!!!! *insert squeal here* If anyone in their right mind can honestly say they don’t appreciate the design techniques of Weiss & Lykke at CarmaKoma, they are absolutely BLIND! Since my introduction to the dynamic Danish duo I have been in complete lust with the site. Some may call it a girl crush I call it heaven. After flipping thru the 2010 Spring Look Book, I’ve finally narrowed down my top favorites.

Now would we be “The Page 6 of All Things Curvy” if we did not bring you the latest things happening… of course not!

While browsing the internet I ran into something quite fabulous – Project Curve Appeal! Project Curve Appeal defines itself as movement – ‘to empower, educate and movitate the curvy queens’. And I must admit, it looks like a lot of fun!

When I first started my research on the site, I thought they were a plus size model agency; looks are definitely deceiving. While they do host the Face of Curve Appeal model call, they seem to have a few other things going on as well. Project Curve Appeal will be hosting ”A Mini Face Camp & Competition” on December 12 – 13th, 2009 in Atlanta, Ga along side of the Pink Christmas Expo & Fashion Show. For more information on Project Curve Appeal, The Pink Christmas Expo or on becoming a FOCA go here.

They say better late than never, but I have to disagree, I have been so busy with school, work and technical difficulities that I am “just” getting around to posting my review on La’Dans Closet. ;-(

La’Dans Closet is an outdoor clothing line that caters to the curvy girl in all of us. Unlike its precedessors who are offering us “wool-blend” outerwear for the same price, these young ladies are giving us flair in wool (not wool-blend).

I had the opportunity to attend the La’Dans Closet Love Party hosted by Latresa & Danielle. Let me first say, these are two of most awesome women I have ever met. Their chemistry is great, and its so apparent in their personalities. Now on to the good stuff *smile* – AMAZING! I love what La’Dans has to offer. They are giving the curvy fashionista in all of us the chance to show off our sass and keeping us warm while doing it. My personal favorite is the “wrap coat”. It is available in camel, black and aqua blue. This coat is sexy. It compliments the curves and can easily be a benefit to any wardrobe.

Unsure if La’Dans is for you? Trust me, they are. The line offers coats, jackets and their signature cape in sizes up to a 5x!!! So head on over to La’Dans Closet and show TCS’s new friends some love!

Donatella Versace answered reader questions on Vogue.com, Darling Daphne in Chicago wants to know why high-fashion designers don’t embrace plus-size gals like her.

Why do designers typically refuse to design for sizes above 10? This question is not meant to be confrontational; I’ve just always wondered about this. Is it simply a prejudice? Wouldn’t it be a good business decision? I can understand not wanting to start a stand-alone plus-size line, but what about extending sizes to 14/16? We have money, too! —Daphne L. Scott, Chicago

We do offer larger sizes at Versace, but I take your point. I certainly wouldn’t want to do a plus-size line, as I have no problem with women of any size wearing my clothes. I guess some styles lend themselves to being scaled up, while some others just don’t work. Sometimes it can depend on the specific piece.

_____

What are your thoughts on Donatella’s decision? Do you think in the future she may change her mind? Lets discuss.
