Book Review & Giveaway: The Curvy Girls Guide to Style Vol. 1

One of my favorite past times is curling up on my loveseat with a bottle of wine and a good book. As outgoing and social as I am, for me there is sometimes no better time spent than with self. Like many of you I was introduced to Chastity Garner via her blog and when I read she was publishing her first book I was excited…. until I saw the title and I thought “what is this exactly”.  Is it her blog in a book? If so, I can read that for free. After some research and my interview with her for SKORCH Magazine I found out we were all wrong.

The Curvy Girls Guide to Style Vol 1 is titled perfectly. It is a beginners or even those with a little experience guide to looking your best. There are two things that makes Chastity’s book worth buying (1) its written by one of us for us.  I don’t know about you but sometimes I just get so sick and tired of people with no clue on how it feels to be plus size telling how I should wear my clothes. The options are practical well the power panty is a bit much but honey it works. (2) its an easy read. I didn’t struggle thru the pages. Her personality comes thru and you feel like her in a conversation.

In celebration of the release of her book The Curvy Spot is bringing a copy of The Curvy Girls Guide to Style into your home.  Just leave me a comment about your style and how Chasisty can give you a few pointers… A winner will be chosen on July 1st!

Lane Bryant Says ABC, Fox Censored Plus-Size Lingerie Ad

Yesterday, Lane Bryant posted a lingerie commercial it said had been rejected or partially censored by ABC and Fox. Now they’ve taken it down. What’s going on?

A post on the plus-size retailer’s Inside Curve blog — which has since been removed, along with the ad itself — charged that the networks had refused to air the sexy ad without substantial edits.

“ABC and Fox have made the decision to define beauty for you by denying our new, groundbreaking Cacique commercial from airing freely on their networks,” the Lane Bryant post reportedly said.

What are you thoughts?
