How to Donate
They want your best clothing sizes XL and up! Pop your fave pieces you’re not wearing anymore into a bag and bring it down to the Fat Girl Fleamarket either the evening before the event on Friday April 29th or the day of on Saturday April 30th.

FYI – The 2011 Fleamarket is only accepting donations the night before and during the day of the fleamarket.
Volunteers
The Fat Girl Fleamarket is an all volunteer effort and they need YOU! Their greatest need is for volunteers to help them sort clothing and also to staff the different tables during the day of the event.
All volunteers get in for free. And sorters get to pre-shop. Everyone is required to pay for their clothing, They are a fundraiser after all

Who Gets the $
This is the 7th Fat Girl Fleamarket that has been created. It all started in winter of 2002, when a group of friends were commiserating about the lack of secondhand or consignment stores for plus size women in New York City. Many of them donated their clothing to thrift stores like Housing Works but would never find anything there to buy. Plus Nolose was struggling financially after September 11th and they all wanted to do something to help the conference get back on it’s feet. Voila, the Fat Girl Fleamarket was born!
The Fat Girl Fleamarket got everyone to dig through their closets for a great cause and that’s just what we’re doing again this year. This year we have the help of Re/Dress NYC the plus size resale clothing store, other plus size clothing retailers, manufacturers and most important people like YOU to provide the awesome clothing that will be available to shop.
The monies raised will be donated to two great grassroots organizations that work hard to create vibrant fat community. Nolose and The Femme Conference.
They are both a gathering space for queer activists working in areas involving size acceptance, body image and other anti-oppression work. They help build the foundation of a movement that challenges fat hatred and develops positive culture & community like The Fat Studies Reader, or Re/Dress NYC. We are proud to support the work they do as it benefits all of us regardless of sexual orientation, gender or body size.
