Miss Plus Diva 2010 Pageant and Conference

The Miss Plus Diva Pageant and Conference will take place on August 6th-7th 2010 and provides young ladies and women with the chance to work in partnership with like minded females, form lifelong friendships, and open their eyes to their place in the beauty and fashion industries. To bring that mission to fruition, they have teamed with The Plus Academy, a nationwide plus model runway training program, and Poprah.
The Plus Academy is New York City’s leading model training and development program, exclusively for plus size women. Since 1999, they have provided unsurpassed training and guidance, helping to launch the careers of several plus models, many of whom have appeared in print ads, runway showcases, television programs, online magazines, designer showcases, pageants and more. The partnership with Miss Plus Diva is sure to provide contestants with the tools they need to be successful in the competition and gain confidence in their walk both on the runway and in their everyday life.
Baltimore’s own experienced television personality, actress, recording artist, writer and producer, Poprah has had many successes that have spanned the entertainment industry both locally, and internationally. As one of the faces of Vh1’s New Reality Show, “I Want To Work For Diddy”, Poprah is well on her way to rivaling some of the best in the business. She’s embracing her curves as living proof that success comes in all sizes. Her passion for life is contagious and she’s hoping to encourage the young ladies and women of Miss Plus Diva as a strong role model and ally.
Miss Plus Diva will celebrate plus size girls and women to embrace their beauty and allow their personalities and creativity to shine by creating a unique pageant with divisions for women ages 13 and up who wear a size 12 and above to empower them and instill a sense of inclusion in the world of beauty, fashion, and pageantry. Miss Plus Diva, is excitedly the first to offer an optional Mothers and Daughters competition. Three ladies will be crowned Miss Plus Diva, Ms Plus Diva and Plus Diva Elite, respectively.
Miss Plus Diva supports the National Domestic Violence Hotline to raise awareness, raise funds and promote the empowerment of abused women. The Hotline has received over 2 million cries for help as a nonprofit organization that provides crisis intervention, information and referral to victims of domestic violence, perpetrators, friends and families. The Hotline answers a variety of calls and is a resource for domestic violence advocates government officials, law enforcement agencies and the general public. We will present the National Domestic Violence Hotline for a check for 25% of all proceeds from the pageant and conference.
