Hey dolls!  I must say, the beauty of networking on social media is real and exciting!  Thanks to my Facebook friend and plus-size designer Kenyatta Jones, I was able to obtain the press release for a new plus-size reality show, House of Curves.  House of Curves will follow Belle Rene, a plus size line designed by Kenyatta in Atlanta,Ga.

Atlant, Ga – WE-TV is launching a new Atlanta-based reality show “House of Curves,” featuring a local plus-size fashion designer Kenyatta Jones.

The show, which debuts June 13 at 10 p.m., will focus on Jones’ efforts to build her clothing line targeting plus-sized women. “I call my life fabulous chaos,” Jones said in an interview last week. “I am always busy, always on the go. I have a very high strung team which includes my best friends and my mom.” Then she added, with a laugh, “That’s pretty much a recipe for disaster!”

She said she fits in the WE-TV brand, which features plenty of powerful women. “Not only do they understand my personality and really gets me, but our brands are similar,” she said. “We want to enlighten and empower women of all colors and ages.”

Jones said she’s a plus-sized woman who is proud of her size. “I’m not on the show on treadmill so sad I’m who I am,” she said. “I’m a size 18 and 220 pounds. And I’m short. I have been fat since I was five.”

She wants the world to know “not every plus-sized woman is sitting around crying and eating Twinkies. I’ve never eaten a Twinkie in my life!”

As she grew up, she became annoyed finding clothes for herself that wasn’t frumpy. A Mississippi native and Jackson State University grad, she moved to Atlanta at age 22. She worked as a human resources manager, did some student teachers and worked in malls. About six years ago, she and her plus-sized friends struggled one time to find clothing for a white party and failed to find anything decent. So she hired people to help her create her vision. She’s now a wholesaler of classy clothes for bigger women. Most of her revenue comes online but she also sells to boutiques in Louisiana and Atlanta.

The network has commissioned six one-hour episodes for the first season. If she’s successful, she’ll get a lot more.
